All this rain we’ve been getting in PA has made geocaching a more dangerous activity lately. Poison ivy has sprung up everywhere, and in great quantities, turning quick park-and-grabs into toxic dangerous jungles. *Sigh* I’m itchy.

To Write Love on Her Arms: Behind The Scenes: On... →
twloha: In both 2009 and 2010, more soldiers died by suicide than were killed in combat. On this Memorial Day, as we pause to remember the men and women killed in combat, we choose also to remember the soldiers lost to suicide. And in an effort to do more than just remember, we want to invite you to…

What am i saying? (phrases)
I clearly misunderstood her exact estimate of the number of people gathered in that small crowd outside. I tried to act naturally as I overheard the news of the young girl who was found missing that morning. I cried and cried until my eyes were fully empty. The grieving family wept together on the sidewalk, grief twisting their beauty into a pretty ugly sight. One man thought it was seriously...

Ime, Imela & Papa Wey
Calvin Gospel Choir visited school a few weeks ago and I have been unable to get this spiritual out of my head, so I figured I’d share it with you guys. “Ime, Imela, Imela Jehova mela Anyinekene gi nasi Imela Imela Jehova mela Papa wey Papa wey dey for heaven now, wey We dey praise you now, wey We dey priase you Papa, wey” Translated, it means: We’re greatful,...

“The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the iniquities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother’s keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who would...

Prom
I love the idea of prom. I know many people don’t, but I really think its nice to hang out with your friends in a more formal setting and eat, drink, and dance and celebrate senior year. There will have been 6769 days between my birth and my senior prom. That’s a lot of days. I think I could have done more in that amount of time. I’m halfway through 18 and I could have had a...

I Choose Not To Be A Common Man
It is my right to be uncommon—if I can. I seek opportunity—not security. I do not wish to be a kept citizen, humbled and dulled by having the state look after me. I want to take the calculated risk; to dream and to build, to fail and to succeed. I refuse to barter incentive for a dole. I prefer the challenges of life to the guaranteed existence; the thrill of fulfillment to the stale calm...

A bond between lifelong friends is not easily broken. They share a special bond, a mutuality of time and experiences being shared that has made them close. Through varying degrees of relational stress, good times and bad times, they still survive. There really is nothing more beautiful, in my opinion, than this bond of friendship. Perhaps both have overstepped boundaries at times, maybe done...

Here am I, send me: Scrabble →
hereamisendme: I just played a game of Scrabble with my parents. And even though I got my butt kicked, it was a great time! It also got me thinking (not just about how to spell words). It actually got me thinking about the Bible… I know, I know, Scrabble and the Bible, they just don’t seem related. But it was…

Deep River, My home is over Jordan. Deep River Lord. I want to cross over into campground. Deep River. My home is over Jordan. Deep River, Lord, I want to cross over into campground Oh, don’t you want to go, To the gospel feast. That promised land, Where all, is peace. Oh, deep River, Lord, I want to cross over into campground.

Chapel today
Chapel today was powerful. I had fun and a real worship experience. Phoenix and Kory’s song “I look to you” originally by Whitney Houston was really powerful. The song is written well and is a great song to be passionate about on the keys. Eyes closed, head down, I played strongly and sang along in my head as they sang, “I look to you, I look to you. After all my strength...

Late morning sunlight filtered through the dusty windowpanes of the room in which the man sat. Around him were various old, aged pieces of furniture; and old, tattered cream and gold sofa, now stacked with old cardboard boxes and fraying rugs, a tall armoire with tarnished golden handles and peeling brown varnish, an old broken grandfather clock, bent handles reflecting the sun’s warmth and...

breakup
So, you’re leaving, aren’t you? I knew it when you said just then when you told me you were leaving That’s when I definitely knew But if you’re trying to break my heart Your plan is flawed from the start You can’t break my heart, it’s liquid It melted when I met you And as you turn around to leave Don’t’ turn back to me Don’t turn around and see if I’m crying I’m not crying I’m not...

just one
I shed one tear tonight. It was not due to sadness, though I am sad. I am frightened. Frightened of all that my decision will mean for tomorrow, and for the next week or so. Tears usually flow in a plural sense, many tears forming and teeming together, streaming in rivulets down a weary face, but just one tear holds significance. All the weight of my internal struggle, my sadness, my heartbreak,...
